The proliferation of private cars on the roads in many parts of the world has led to serious problems of pollution and may contribute to global warming. Some people think that governments should spend money for the development of public transportation systems in order to help alleviate this problem. Others think it is better to spend money for the development of electric and other types of cars that may cause less pollution.
Do you think it is better for governments to spend money developing public transportation or developing new kinds of cars? Why or why not? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience
Cars are 4 wheeled vehicles which helps make travelling convenient and are increasingly becoming important in our lives. Ranging from the smallest versions like Tata Nano to SUVs,they vary in cost, features and comfort levels. The current market caters to all kinds of target audience. The situation is such that each household can afford a car these days depending on their budget and few homes have more than 2 cars. No doubt, cars are useful means of transportation and make our journeys comfortable and shorter but on the flip side, the pollution they cause is making this planet a worst place to live in leading to global warming. In my opinion, gvernment should spend more money on developing public transport system and encourage people to walk or cycle to their places of work.
Our environment is slowly dying. Pollution is a great cause of worry these days and as the number of cars is increasing, the incidences of health problems related to lungs is increasing. We do not get fresh air to breathe. Situation in metro cities is even worse. The adverse effect of pollution is so high that even people who go out for morning walks, do not get fresh air. In addition to the problem of pollution, traffic on roads is also increasing which infact tires the driver rather than making journey comfortable for him.
Introducing electrical cars will not solve the problem but make it even worse because in any ways, it will not put a stop on number of vehicles on the road. Traffic and parking problems will still remain and electric power would be needed to charge them hence increasing the load on electricity.
To conclude, relying more on public system is a better idea because it will encourage people to walk or cycle down a little to reach the station, make them realize the importance of time management and help them socialize reducing the stress of driving in the crowded roads and this in turn will help save the environment.
