A decision-making position in the government holds great importance, for it decides policy for the general public. While some people say that younger people cannot be trusted with such responsibilities, others are supportive of letting younger generations become members of the government. Some argue younger people are not suitable for important positions in the government, while others think this is a good idea. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
When it comes to being a public servant, experience is a crucial and indispensable factor. Young people lack the experience of society and politics, and therefore may not be able to carry the heavy burden of being a government official. By contrast, an older and experienced person knows how to handle certain issues, such as responding to public complaints, upholding the tradition, cutting the budget, etc. These problems tend to be difficult and complicated for a new and inexperienced person to deal with. Inappropriate decision-making by a young and reckless government official could result in serious damage of the government image, so it is no trivial matter.
However, older people have a tendency to be old-fashioned. Their thinking is usually confined in a traditional way. Sometimes it should be encouraged to let people from younger generations bring innovative ideas to problem-solving. Younger people can adapt to modern technology faster and more easily than the older people. They tend to be progressive and able to see things from the perspective of a new era. Globalization calls for new solutions of new issues, and this is where younger people need to step in and make decisions conducive to the development of society.
In conclusion, it will be satisfying to the majority of population in a country if both older and younger generations could cooperate, combining traditional and fresh ideas.
