should wealthy nations be required to share their wealth among poorer nation by providing such things as food and education? Or is it the responsibility of the governments of poorer nations to look after their citizens themselves?
In the twenty first century, it is unarguably that there is significant imbalance in wealth of nations all over the world. This can be seen in reports and footages on the news. Some argue wealthy countries should be required to provide support such as food and education to poorer ones. However, rich countries, in my opinion, should only share wealth with less fortunate countries in special circumstances but the governments of these poorer nations should not rely on the help and supplies from others.
Firstly, it is essential that developed countries provide helps to under-developed and developing countries to overcome their economic struggles in certain circumstances. Take starving children in Africa for example. These African countries suffer from food shortages for years and cannot feed their children. To make the matter worse, they do not possess enough knowledge to fight droughts and create food supplies on their own. Recently, UNICEF has taken a campaign on this issue with funding from wealthy nations and the situation has been becoming progressively better. Without the food and education supports from these developed countries, it is impossible for African people to create their own food and save their children. Hence, it is important that richer nations should lend poorer nations a hand.
However, government of each nation is required to look after its citizens and cannot be reliant upon on helps from others. It is encouraged that the governments of under-developed and developing countries should properly utilize support from developed countries to tackle their struggles in the future. For instance, if poor African nations relied on all support given to them, they would continue to starve themselves. Instead by using knowledge from wealthy nations, they are, in fact, slowly overcoming the food shortage issue on their own. Thus, it is crucial that poorer countries should use guidance and support wisely in order to solve their problems.
In conclusion, in only some extent, wealthy nations should share wealth and provide support to less fortunate nations but these poorer nations cannot rely all on it and must take care of their citizens themselves.
