Increasing the price of petrol is the best way to solve growing traffic and pollution. To what extend you agree or disagree. what measures do you think might be effective?
Since the beginning of recorded time people seeked faster mode of transportation. With the advent of fossil fuel engines the travelling has become faster. As more and more people started using personal modes of transportation, traffic congestion and pollution were the outcome of it. It will be shown that increase in petrol price helps to reduce traffic and pollution. This will be proven by analyzing the sales trend of four wheelers during the recent petrol price increase and the necessity of people to take to cheaper public transport.
Looking first at the sales trend of personal vehicles during the previous government, when the petrol prices were high. The sales trend had in fact gone down, buoyed by the fact that people were concerned about the ramification of petrol price on their budget. This clearly shows the link between sales trend and petrol price. It is obvious that this has an impact on the traffic and pollution.
Secondly, it affects the budget of common man. For example, most people are commoners and they live on a budget. As the petrol price increase they will be forced to use public transport which are cheaper. This shows, the petrol price rise impacts the budget of people. It is obvious that more the people use the public transport less the number of vehicles on the road and pollution generated by vehicles.
After analyzing the areas of impact of hike in petrol price, it can be safely said that price rise cause decrease in traffic and pollution. Along with the petrol price hike and increase in vehicle tax will deter people from buying personal vehicles and use more public transport.
