We've just crossed into the Year of the Horse. What better way to celebrate than by brainstorming a few horse idioms? :)

These are the ones I can think of off the top of my head:

"Get off your high horse" = don't be pretentious
"From the horse's mouth" = hear something from the source of the information
"Hold your horses" = think before acting
"Flog a dead horse" = doing something useless

Can you think of any?

Happy Lunar New Year!

Happy Chinese New Year!

This year is the year of the Wooden Horse, it was believed that it's an auspicious year for businesses that posses fire and wood element. So arts, media, agriculture, education, publishing, textile, fashion will do well this year. I am a skeptic to these predictions but it's always nice to know, to a certain degree to be optimistic.

On another note, this video is fun:

Thanks for the background on exactly what kind of horse year we can expect. :)

That's a great video, robdrake. I love Rachel's work. I think she is an excellent teacher. Her lessons are always so entertaining. (I'm trying to think of a horse idiom that would fit here, but I can't!)

Here's a phrase my friend recently used to wish me luck on my ielts, which I think it's unusual but yet pertinent! I will relay this blessing to all IELTS candidates this year.
