Write about the following topic:
as the world becomes technologically advanced, computers are replacing more and more jobs.
describe some job positions that may be lost because of computers, and discuss at least one problem that may result.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.write at least 250 words.

-As time goes by,Man creates more solutions to help him in his every-day life, the most significant solution that emerged into the surface in the last century was the computer. Computers came as a necessity for humanity to jump into the next level, to see more horizons and to be able to evolve.
Computers provided an unprecedented speed, simplicity in dealing with problems and calculations and total reliability. Their efficiency convinced us to depend on them in running our factories and machinery.Computers exceeded expectations when it came to mass production. Also they came as a cheap alternative to human labor.

I can somehow understand a business owner who chooses to hire a computer that doesn't ask for vacations, get sick, be lazy sometimes and does the job twice as fast over a human employee. However, this meant that it was inevitable for computers to replace the role of humans in work. Hence , computers revealed their truth about being a double-edged sword. Despite being very beneficent to people, computers were major contributors to unemployment. computers caused a lot of laid-offs in many businesses. for example, it started with old-style typewriters factories closing as people started using keyboards. Through the internet, people were able to send letters in seconds, so the idea of the old-fashioned mail has almost gone obsolete, causing also a lot of laid-offs in post offices. Similar cases were seen in train control stations and automated factories where everything is ran without any human intervention.

Finally, we cannot deny that on the other hand, computers did provide a lot of vacancies as the information technology field required some labor as well. it's up to governments now to come up with proper solutions to unemployment problems.

I would also like to submit my essay on the same topic for review:

Undoubtedly, the computer was the most revolutionary development happened in the 20th century. The advancements in Information Technology in the 21st century has further taken computers to almost everywhere – right from a smartphone to the driverless cars. Although, growing use of computers has offered several benefits to mankind, it is not without the drawbacks. The increasing job cuts resulting in employment imbalance and a slowdown in the economy are some of the major side effects.

A computer, when invented in 20thcentury had a sole intention of easing the mathematical calculation process. Soon, however, with the advancements in the computer technology and other supporting inventions like the Internet and the nanotechnology not only changed the way traditional computers looked, but it phenomenally evolved a computer’s behaviour too, making it possible to use in almost every equipment and every major task. People now no more need to be dependent on human labour to get the tasks done which resulted in job-cuts in several industries. Traditionally labour dependant industries of precision engineering and mechanical factories replaced 75% of workers with computer borne industrial automation. Jobs like Lathe operator, fitter, driller were taken over by a single precision machine called CNC that can cut the parts, drill the holes and fit the parts together all alone. The computer aided drawings (CAD) almost endangered the draftsman jobs. Thus, several traditional industries like cotton weaving, milling are almost extinct now as the same jobs are taken over by sophisticated computer run automated machines.

Despite the laborious jobs were taken away, the computer industry has opened up the new jobs in IT sector and new skills in demand. However, this resulted in extremely high demands in IT industry while substantially low requirements in mechanical & precision engineering sectors. The further ramification of this imbalance is the limited sector wise growth and a slowdown in the overall economy. Especially in the developed world with low index of young generation, it created a great skill gap, skill shortage and unemployment problems.
In summary, computers made a great positive difference by improving the tasks and efficiency of many traditional works, but at the same time it took away some of the professions and several hundreds of jobs creating economical and financial problems to a nation. It is therefore hoped that government interventions to impose compulsory training programs and stick laws are to be adhered to protect the employees at risk of losing their jobs due to this advancement.
