Do you agree or that improvements in technology reduce the role of Olympic Games
Technological advancements have taken mammoth dimensions in this modern century. Even in the field of Olympic sports, modern technology has a prominent role. However, I disagree that technological improvements minimize the popularity of Olympics. Influence of modern technology to widen the number of global audience for Olympic events and the inability of technology to replace the experience of physical games over virtual one can state this view.
Firstly, developments in the field of communication technology helped to raise the interest of people in events such as Olympics. To be precise, nowadays, people can watch thrilling moments in games as live either in their home or in their mobile phones. For instance, billions of people across the world eagerly watched the moments of Usain Bolt’s high speed running in previous London Olympics. From this, it is evident that technology is rather improving the influence of Olympic Games than depressing it. Thus, it is clear that technological advancements cannot take the lead of sports events down.
Secondly, pleasures provided by the live performance from Olympic or any other sports are much higher than from the virtual games. For example, patriotism is the feeling aroused among the audience once their athletes perform in ground. Unfortunately, such level of spirit is something that cannot be imitated by technology itself. This makes it clear that modern technological aspects are not capable to outweigh Olympics.
To conclude, modern technology is helpful to improve the popularity of Olympic events. Apart from that, technologies are unable to replace the pleasure from physical games. So, now it is clear that advanced technology is not a threat to Olympic games.
