Do you recommend IETLS candidates memorize common English name?
I just tried a listening mock test, and the name needed to write wasn't spelt out by the speaker. So I had to guess the spelling of the name. And I wrote Pool Butt instead of Paul Bhatt.
Should I memorize common English names?

Re: Should I memorize common English names?
I guess that would be worthless. Memorizing a few common ones won't harm though. Paul is a pretty common name, similar is Matthew, Jennifer etc. but there are really uncommon ones such as Jose (pronounced as Haose) and Juan (Huan) which maybe useful to remember. But I guess that 95% chances are there to hear the speaker spell out the name for you. The question is whether it is worth taking out time for that 5%.
It would be better if you concentrate on understanding and listening rather than memorizing although memorizing a few words misspelled would be much better. ---> http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/words ... sspellings
