If you lost money because you were scammed by IELTS, you might be able to claim other expenses such as:

Flights to study in another country, tuition fees for the bachelor/master degree etc.

IELTS is not just about the test. If they defraud us, this has consequences for our lives and expenditures for other things and for this we can sue and claim damages.

It seems a lot of people are not happy with the BC and IDP. I have seen multiple petitions calling for change.

Not to be too negative but I would not expect any changes in the testing any time soon however it is great to put pressure on the bodies. In the UK for example, it is most likely with the Brexit vote and the anti-immigration views of the public that the tests will become more difficult and more people will fail. Unfortunately, Government and the people of America and many European countries do not want more more immigrants in their country therefore they adopt practices such as IELTS to make entry more and more difficult.

I wonder if you have missed the core point. State sponsored transnational fraud against citizens of developing nations.

We do not care so much that immigration is restricted. It is the fact that IELTS, IDP, The British Council and Cambridge, in collaboration with Canada and Australia set a false benchmark and profit from the fraud and deception. As we kick the ball, IELTS move the goal post. You will not get a 7 unless you score at least 8 for that skill. Earning a true 7.5 will be reduced to a 6.5 behind closed doors.

As is, only those who can achieve IELTS 8.0 for all four skills one one test will get a 7.0 for all skills or higher. People can live with that system if it is managed honestly.

But the system works like this. Most just need a 7.0 for all four skills for bonus points. Too many people can and are achieving this. So IELTS, read our application form, and then keep falsely lowering one score to a 6.5.

Result:

1. Universities maximize the billions of dollars in international student fees
2. Governments in Australia get a stronger economy
3. IELTS earn $600 million profit a year.

4. International students get sent back home because they could only ever achieve 7.5 for all skills, and IELTS defraud them and make one of them 6.5

That is the point. The fraud and deception and the shattered dreams of people from the poorest nations who were sucked into a deceptive system.
