Hi All,

I am preparing to take the IELTS General exam shortly. I have just started my preparation and I want to sit for this in the next 30-45 days. I am worried about my writing skills as its been 11 years since I actually wrote anything (Apart from writing emails on Outlook). I work in IT and Spell Check and Grammar Auto Correct has seriously compromised my writing abilities.

I have started with the Cambridge Publication Improving your Vocabulary for IELTS and found the videos from IELTSCast. Listening to How to score band 9 in all sections of the IELTS! I realized that it makes perfect sense

I hope that I can learn from the examples and improve my IELTS Scores :D

Hi Pumbaa,

Thank you for sharing a bit of background. Please excuse the delayed welcoming to the site.

There are several talented people working on the forums, so you should receive some helpful feedback on any sample you post. How are you placing in your mock Listening and Reading exams?

Please accept my apologies for the delayed response Ryan. I got caught up with work and didn't get a chance to respond. I did however manage to get in some practice in the last few weeks. I also attended a 2 day workshop conducted by British Council on IELTS strategies.
So far the scores are
Listening Cambridge IELTS 8
2/5 Test 1 36/40
5/5 Test 2 37/40
21/5 Test 3 34/40 (Had a really bad day at work and could not concentrate)
25/5 Test 4 39/40
26/5 Test 1 39/40 Cambridge IELTS 9
Academic Reading
3/5 Test 134/40
7/5 Test 2 36/40
24/5 Test 3 36/40
26/5 Test 4 33/40
Spouse's scores are
Listening Cambridge IELTS 8
Test 1 38/40
Test 2 38/40
Test 3 37/40
Test 4 36/40
Test 1 37/40 Cambridge IELTS 9
Academic Reading Cambridge IELTS 8
Test 1 37/40
Test 2 36/40

We are finding the Academic reading to be difficult compared to General reading but using it as practice for now. We will be giving the General Module of the exam
