Money plays most important role in today' society and those who spends huge money on celebrations are considered to be of high status. Many people, for that reason, spending lots of money on celebrating their memorable days such as birthdays and weddings. While many others are of opinion that people should not waste money on such celebrations. Following paragraphs will demonstrate both the point of views before making any conclusion.

On the one hand, it is true that people always finds reasons to celebrate whether it is birthday or marriage or any good thing that has happened in individual's life. For example, my cousin brother is always throwing lavish parties on his birthdays and spends thousands of Indian rupees. The main reason for him to spend big money is to show his class and status to his friends and relatives. Another reason is, there are many occasions, like marriage, which comes once only in majority of people's lives. Thus, many people doesn't mind to spend large amount of money to make these events memorable. This makes it clear the people spending money on celebrations to show their financial status in society and to make those events to remember for lifetime.

On the other hand, detractors assert that spending huge money on celebrations is just a waste of money. People should celebrate special occasions in most simplest possible way and the money can be used to feed poor and hungry people and to educate them. Take an example of my English teacher, Mr. Sachien Shah, who always prefer to donate money to the institutions that works for poor people and spends his special day with disabled and physically challenged people. Another point here is, there is no need to invite few hundred people on marriage function and instead the same amount of money can be used saved for future critical needs and also can be used for betterment of needy people.

In the light of above discussion, to my viewpoint, I tend to agree with the later statement as saving money is more vital than spending large amount of money. Also in today's world where high proportions of human population lives under poverty and doesn't have access to basic facilities, spending money of celebrations such as marriages is not a good choice.

Hello!

Overall, this essay is good, but could be much better.

You have answered the question and presented arguments, but you have missed a couple of key points that, if you had discussed them, would really have added to the essay.

First, you missed the point that many families spend a lot on wedding even though they cannot actually afford to! They take on debts which could be ruinous.

Secondly, and let's be realistic here, it all sounds great to give the money to charity instead, but how often does that happen?

What really saves this essay is the good grammar and vocabulary. A wide range of both are used and with relatively few mistakes. Organisation is clear and sentence order within paragraphs is very good.

All the best,
David
