As most people spend a major part of their adult life at work, job satisfaction is an important element of individual well-being.
• What factors contribute to job satisfaction?
• How realistic is the expectation of job satisfaction for all workers?
• Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your knowledge or experience.
Response:
The factors that help to achieve job satisfaction vary from each individual worker. These factors include the wage they get paid and nature of work they perform at the job, but not limited to. Because of this reason, it can be or give that it is not possible for all work to achieve job satisfaction at their work. This could be seen by analyzing and how personal economic condition and lack of expected opportunities affect job satisfaction for all workers.
Firstly, because of personal financial requirement some people are left with no option than to work in a job in which they are at least interested at. For instance, less educated single mothers sometimes are required to work at restaurants as waiter to support their kids. This is one reason among many that forces some individuals to work in a job which may not interest them. Thus, it becomes clear that to ones’ balance financial burden, workers continue to work at their dissatisfied job and the expectation of job satisfaction for all becomes unrealistic.
Secondly, some remote parts of the world are constrained only with certain type of jobs available. Traditionally, in Africa some remote areas are majorly restricted with only mining jobs due to the availability of the vast mine areas. Because of this lack of other opportunities, people from these areas and its surrounding are subjected to do only such particular jobs. This, this clearly shows the workers have almost no job satisfaction because of lesser availability of various kinds of job.
To conclude, after examining the ideas about how a personal financial requirement and due to the nature of only fewer variety of jobs available, with no shadow of doubt it can be seen clearly that not all workers can have job satisfaction at their work. All office of us want to be satisfied with our work, however it is close to impossible to implement to achieve this.
