The graph shows percentage of unemployment in the US and Japan between 1993 and 1999. It is clearly seen that the rate in the US decreased while in Japan it increased in general.
Unemployed people made up 7 per cent of the whole work force in the US back in March 1993. After steady fall to 6.25 per cent, there was period of instability in US between the second part of 1993 and March 1995, which led the unemployment rate to 5.5 per cent. This year was followed by a little rise in 1995 up to 6.0 per cent, which was followed by decrease down to 5.0 per cent. After this the graph demonstrates plateau till March 1999.
Unemplyment level of Japanese work force was as large as 2.5 per cent in March 1993. After extremely fast growth up to 3.0 per cent in the very beginning of 1993, the constant rise came with several number of ups and downs, which finished in the middle of 1996 with 4.4 per cent. Then, the short decrease down to 3.9 per cent was followed by steady growth with the small acceleration in 1998 up to 5.2 per cent. The percentage didn't change much since that time till the end of 1999.
