IELTS Speaking result how pause will effect the score ?

Dear all,

I Took my test on June 10th below is the Que card. I took a big pause in the middle after speaking close to 1 minute and then i resumed ..now can anyone say how badly its going to affect my score can i expect 6.5 or above ? i did well in task 1 and task 3 in speaking but this 2 minute task i am worried.

What have you purchased recently and not used ?
when it was purchased ?
Why did you purchased and reason for not using it ?


Also how is IELTS General marking in terms of strictness in speaking and writing modules ? Will they be bit lenient ?

Hi kishorito,

Your score in the IELTS determines your abilities in using the English language. In the writing test, your score will be computed based on:

• task achievement or response
  coherence and cohesion
  grammatical range and accuracy
  lexical resource

with speaking:

• fluency and coherence
  pronunciation
  grammatical range and accuracy
  lexical resource

... as long as you can meet all the criteria above, you don't have to worry that much. Remember, answer what are being asked in the allotted time slot.
