News stories on TV and in newspapers are very often accompanied by pictures. Some people say that these pictures are more effective than words.
What is your opinion about this?
It is very common to display pictures on the television as well as in the newspaper. It is considered by some that those graphics are more useful than wordings. In my opinion, I agree that the images can easily give audiences a strong image of it and furthermore the reading habit is changing.
Firstly, showing pictures are the most effective measure to achieve a successful advertising purpose. For instance, the majority of the movie will design a poster for promoting their films. Only from the atmosphere, actor’s or actress’s facial expressions and background sceneries then you may realize the content of stories. Some horror movies have successfully given strong images to audiences by their pictures and attract them to watch it. This makes it clear that the pictures are eligible to draw people attention. As this shows, these graphics are more effective than words.
Secondly, in this cutting-edge technology, reading habits of our offsprings have been changed. Young people prefer to read pictures rather than read a single word. To illustrate, in Hong Kong, a lot of adolescents would like to read news on the internet and that news are showing as motion pictures. Consequently, the pictures are entirely instead of conservative newspapers. It is obvious from this, for our new generation, it is more useful to show pictures than words.
In conclusion, following this look at how pictures can give strong images to the audiences and the new reading habits among our young generation, it has been proven that pictures are more effective than wordings.
