Some people think that the universities should

Post by Farhad123 »

Ques: Some people think that universities should provide graduates with the knowledge and skills needed in the workplace. Others think that the true function of a university should be to give access to knowledge for its own sake, regardless of whether the course is useful to an employer.

What, in your opinion, should be the main function of a university?

Ans: Universities are considered one of the main source of knowledge and skills. A graduate from university is a valuable resource for the society. It is agreed that universities must prepare its graduate with the knowledge and skills necessary for the work place. It can shown by analyzing how a graduate with proper knowledge and skills can gain most of his life and a work place fit graduates can contribute more to the society.

Firstly, a knowledge with out skills can be dangerous. For example, some one is sick, a knowledgeable person who reads lots of books on medical subject is useless because all of his knowledge is wasted he can not prescribes the sick person. To get respect and contribute ones need knowledge and know how to use that knowledge. Thus without skills knowledge is not beneficial for a university graduate.

Secondly, as a human we generally want to contribute towards society and wants recognition respect.Such as someones know lot of things but if he lacks the skills to translate his knowledge to a marketable products and services than no one will benefit from his knowledge. He will not remember in peoples min , nor he will earn any respect and money. As can be seen to survive and get respect a graduate from universities should acquire knowledge as well as application of knowledge.

knowledge without skills is a wastage of youth life in graduate school. To contribute in society as well as human life a graduate school should prepare its students skillful knowledgeable person. It is predicted in future the curricular of universities must focus on knowledge , skills , so a graduate can contribute in his workplace.

Hello!

The first main paragraph is repetitive and garbled. In particular, I don't think that you have sufficiently differentiated between knowledge and skills. (For example, if scoring a 147 break in snooker requires skill, does it not also require knowledge?)

The argument in the second main paragraph is easily refuted. Get someone else to do the marketing. This is not a pedantic point - every large company has different departments such as marketing, development, finance.

Overall, I think that you have barely answered the question.

All the best,
David

It is agreed that universities must prepare their graduates with the knowledge and skills necessary for the work place. Firstly, knowledge without skills can be dangerous. For example, if someone is sick, a knowledgeable person who reads lots of books on medical subject is useless because, despite all of his knowledge, he can not help the sick person. To gain respect and make a contribution, one needs knowledge and an understanding of how to use that knowledge. Thus, without skills knowledge is not beneficial for a university graduate.

For example, if someone knows lot of things but lacks the skills to translate his knowledge into a marketable product or service, then no one will benefit from his knowledge. As this example shows, to be successful and gain respect, a graduate from university should acquire knowledge as well as an understanding of how to apply that knowledge.

Knowledge without skills is a waste of a graduate's time. To contribute in society as well as human life, a graduate school should prepare its students to be both skillful and knowledgeable. It is predicted that in the future universities must focus on knowledge and skills so a graduate can contribute in his workplace.
