I greatly appreciate if you can evaluate my essay. Thank you very much~
Because of television, people do not communication with each other the way they did before they have television. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Television sets are one of the most common household appliances. Even though they are not a necessity for human survival, it is extremely difficult to imagine a world without television. In my view, television has greatly transformed human life since its invention in the 20th century. The transformation is particularly apparent in communication, or more specifically, human socialisation and the spread of information.
One of the many impacts that television has on people is the phenomenon that people have less face-to-face communication than before. People tend to spend more of their spare time at home watching television than going out with their friends and loved ones. In contrast, when there was no television, people often gathered together and enjoyed each other’s company. This can be seen in narratives, like classical novels and movies, that people held parties and balls all the time in the past. Television is, of course, a very engaging form of entertainment but reduces the real interaction and communication among people.
Another change brought along by television is how people spread information across the population, especially true for politicians. Before the introduction of TV, politicians and opinion leaders could only spread and advocate their agendas via newspapers. Written communication was good but inadequate in comparison with colourful and moving figures on TV. People are much more engaged in politics as a result. Thus, politicians often arrange interviews and debates on TV before an election.
To summarise, the creation of television has changed the way people live their lives, whether it be on an individual level or on a country as a whole. It is also expected that television will continue to influence human life and communication.
