The two pie charts illustrates the average household spending by category in a country in year 1950 and 2010. The category consists of housing, food, health care, education, transportation and others.

In 1950, the largest proportion of spending was on housing, which accomodated of 72.1%. However, this portion was subsequently reduced by more than half, which resulted to 22% spent on housing in 2010. The decrease in housing expenditure gave rise to the spending in food category, whereby the percentage went up from 11.2% to 34.0% over the years.

A significant increase in transportation expenditures can be seen between the two years given. This can be further supported when there was only 3.3% spent on transportation in 1950 as compared to 14.0% in 2010. In addition, the chart also shows a notable increase in healthcare spending in 2010 compared to 1950.

Overall, the household spending pattern changed over the years.
