Really Impressed With My Result (Overall Band 8.5)

Post by Eugene1989 »

Hello everyone,

i got my result today for the 13th December 2014 IELTS General test.

Listening 9
Reading 9
Writing 8
Speaking 8.5

Overall: 8.5 on 9

I am so happy as i needed just 7 in all four skills. Plus, i was told that i had the best result for that particular exam.

Hi Eugene,

Damn, you only need another 0.5 to reach an overall band of 9! hehe anyway that's AMAZING result! I'm taking mine on 12 Feb soon, but Academic.

Did you take this General Training IELTS to migrate somewhere?

Cheers,
Dat

Wow! Great work, Eugene. Was this your first attempt? How did you prepare for and engage IELTS Writing and Speaking?

Hi Ryan,

Yeah, this was my first try and I literally had 3 days to prepare. What made me successful was that I studied a lot of materials on your website. I went through your tutorial lessons and watched and listened to your success stories on YouTube to have more insight. In particular for the speaking I went through sample interviews and all. For writing I just polished my knowledge on tenses, sentence structures and vocabulary. I also browsed through this forum for tips and sample questions.

I hope this helps prospective exam takers?

Don't hesitate to contact me if you need me to discuss these tips in detail.

Thanks again for your immense help.

Hi,

Yeah I did the exam to migrate to Canada.

I got an email from the exam centre that I might have gotten a 9 in my speaking. So I might just end up scoring an overall band of 9, after the EoR procedure. But I really don't need it to be perfectly honest.

I wish you success on your upcoming exam.

Cheers!

Hi,

I took the exam in London, United Kingdom.

To be fair to all test takers, if you are not happy with your result you can apply for a review of your results (called an Enquiry on Results) at your test centre within six weeks of the test date. You must pay an enquiry fee, which is fully refunded if your band score changes.

Congratulations. You must have a strong grasp of English academically if you scored that well with minimal preparation. I hope the migration process goes well for you.
