A person’s worth nowadays seems to be judged according to social status and material possessions. Old-fashioned values, such as honour, kindness and trust, no longer seem important.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

Modern societies tend to label people based on how rich they appear to be. Usually, looks and external signs of wealth are given major relevance for social acceptance. Although this can be seen, especially in bigger cities, it is disagreed that values such as honour, kindness and thrust are no longer appreciated and valued. It is though that personal relationships are still based in these values and that they are the background of society. These points of view will be explained in the following paragraphs.
Firstly, basic relations like friendship are very difficult to maintain if the intervenient characters miss some of these qualities. For instance, it is believed that in a relation lacking honesty and honour, no matter how much money is involved, it will never flourish and will eventually fade out. True friendships are still based on old-fashioned values rather than in economic status.
Secondly, it can be seen that in places where the community is smaller, the people's character is what "makes or breaks" the opinion about a person. In such places, it can be observed business deals being made and sealed with a handshake. The honour and thrust in someone's word is highly considered, no matter how wealthy people are.
To conclude, people's values still matters. It has been demonstrated that without them personal relationships like friendship can not survive. Values are most significant in towns, villages and smaller cities where everybody is well-known. Thus, it should be additionally considered to teach young children how defining values are for their future.
