Online assessment resource or a teacher
Hi guys! I'm looking for a dependable resource or preferably a certain person (a licensed IELTS instructor or former examiner) to assess and correct GT writings on the paid basis. The situation is that most of whom I managed to find did amateurish job or rejected to provide a band score for the safe...

Re: Example of 7-band essay?
In summary, Cambridge people's way of thinking is 'Weak but not a mistake, stupid but grammatically correct, implausible but everything is OK with the grammar)) :D ' You can't beat them for the prowess of hedging and wriggling. My next essay will be like: 'My name is Andreas. I am a good man. I live...

Weigth of grammatical errors?
Hi, David! Nice to see this new much-needed section! This time I'd like to ask about grammatical mistakes test-takers make. Is it true that different mistakes can be counted against you differently? For example, one makes a spelling mistake in a word 'exaggeration', having written 'ex e g ga ration'...

Re: grammar book?
Hi! My experience suggests that the best grammar book to score 7+ is English reading resources. You should read and analyse science reports ( analyse from this perspective: sentence structure, terms used (phrasal verbs), prepositions used, punctuation, development of an idea, cohesive devises used, ...

One question,
What about band descriptors, does an examiner really put scores for each descriptor and then calculate the average band based on them?

Apparently, they should not have confused us with such the poor example as many people consider this as a role model essay and hav...

Problem&Solution Essay. Most appropriate structure?
Hi, David! This time, I wondering which P&S essay structure examiners are expecting us to stick with? I mean there are 2 main options: 1-st para - 1 main cause+ its solution, 2-d para - another cause + its solution, both with superficial analysis on viability. Advantage: 2 causes and 2 solutions...

Hi everyone! Thank you, soura, for your detailed reply! Re: Example of 7-band essay?
Hi, drsid! Yeah, the question is quite topical! Band descriptors do not say almost anything! All of them are still based on a subjective judgement! How to distinguish TR of 6.5 band-essay from 9 band essay - is still a conundrum. Or if a single mistake like , 'she have...' or 'Skills is..' is able t...

Re: compare and rephrase sentences
Hi, Marilety! I suppose such the resource does not exist. Writing 9-band sentences is more like art rather than a formalized process applicable to be used in any computer program. However, we can memorize and copy the best samples of sentences from the literature (newspapers, magazines, science repo...

Hi, David! Hope this post finds you in a good mood! Wouldn't it be a problem for you to write for us some example of a 7-band 250-word essay? Not 7.5 or higher. Further, I'd like you to point at some mistakes/misspellings or simplifications that would turn it into 6.5 and further into 6 band essay? ...
