[The table compares the proportion of household who owned different durables in Britain in 10 year period.
It is clear that there is a consistent increase in percentage of durable materials in British households in the given period. The television had the highest percentage mark in each year.
In the year 1972, 98 percent of British household owned television, which is the highest percentage among the eight durables, whereas central heating was the lowest, which is 38 percent only. No data provided for video and dishwasher in the same year. The proportion for the other four durables were below 90 percent.
After 10 years, although the proportion for television consistently stayed at the top, with 98 percent, it only rose by 5 percent. By contrast, the proportion for central heating almost doubled, from 38 percent to 64 percent. In 1983, the refrigerator was the second highest durable owned by British, with 94 percent. The proportion for video and dishwasher were the lowest with 18 percent and 5 percent, respectively.

In 1972, 93 percent of British households owned a television, the most common of the 8 products listed in the table. Central heating was the lowest, at 38 percent . There was no data provided for video and dishwasher until 1983 and 1978 respectively, as they weren't invented until then. The proportion for the other four durables were below 90 percent.
